A sparkling morning here at the Hotel Pakaritampu |
Our destination today - a mountain pass called Malaga. We headed up near the snow line, at an altitude of 13,900 feet. |
We passed this woman along the road and stopped to talk. She is from the community of Tastayoc, and was weaving while watching her cattle below. |
We stopped to help this man dig up potatoes. He is also from Tastayoc. |
He uses a tool called a "lampa" which dates back to Inca times. Later in the day, we walked through Tastayoc and happened to meet this man again along with his family. We then drove his wife and daughter (and their potatoes) into Ollantaytambo. |
Hilda is showing us the anatomy of a potato plant |
Not easy work - this is a very large field... |
Some of the scenery from our drive |

These are all pictures of the family that we took during our visit today. |
